DETAILS
On July 19th come spend your day with us in Bridgeport to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Latino Conservation week! The morning starts at Ash Creek where we will host a bird walk with Yaw D., Senior Project Specialist of Connecticut Land Conservation Council. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars as we lead discussion while you view the abundant birds (osprey, shorebirds and ducks) of the area. Learn about the different species as well as the conservation of this natural salt marsh - an important stopover area along the Atlantic Flyway for migrating shorebirds. Continue the day as we move over to Reservoir Community Farm (1469 Reservoir Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06606) with our friends at Green Village Initiative, UCONN’s farmer Extension and USDA as we continue conversations in Spanish about food, land and host other activities. We will share a mindfulness exercise followed by lunch before jumping into an afternoon of workshops. Workshops will include a soffrito demonstration, urban climate-smart farming practices and soil health, edible medicinal weeds, and trees and the urban heat island effect. We hope you can join us for this event!
