We are are again offering a 2-day chainsaw training workshop called Game of Logging  (Levels 1 & 2) for interested individuals.

Game of Logging is a world-recognized training curriculum that teaches chain saw skills. Developed in the 1960s by Soren Eriksson, a Swedish logger turned training instructor, the Game of Logging combines Scandinavian logging techniques with the latest systems for working safely around trees. Don’t worry if your experience with a chainsaw is limited, the instructor will work with you taking your skill level into account. Demonstration and hands-on practice of the various techniques will be tailored to the needs and abilities of land trust trail stewards. Here is a short list of the topics covered. Discussion of and plan for Emergencies, and Personal Protective Equipment. Daily 5-Point Safety Check Discussions of Routine Maintenance Art of Filing the chain Discussion of Reactive Forces: Push; Pull; Kickback; Attack Bore Cutting: use attack corner, body position Using Ropes & Mechanical Advantage Techniques If you want more information about GOL, you can contact Dan Carmody (DCarmody@survival-group.com). He will happy to answers your questions. The class is scheduled for April 13th & 14th. The fee for this 2-day workshop is $200.00, which is less than half of a Game of Logging course taken elsewhere. Registration will be prioritized first come first served and to active trail stewards and team members.  Just a quick note: You need to provide your own protective equipment including a hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection, gloves, chainsaw safety chaps, and sturdy shoes or boots.
