DETAILS
Should I leave the seeds or collect them? When are they ready to be harvested? How do I clean them? So many wonderful questions as we enter the exciting time of year for collecting your own seeds from your pollinator plantings! Learn the answers at our LIVE workshop with special guests Sefra Alexandra “The Seed Huntress” and leader of the Ecotype Project for CT NOFA Dina Brewster from the Hickories Farm and the Eco59 Seed Collective. Sefra and Dina will give us a tutorial as we walk in Aspetuck’s beautiful Randall’s Farm meadow, collect the seeds from our native Asters, Joe-Pye Weed, Goldenrod and some other native plants. We will join them back at our NEW Aspetuck barn-office onsite at Gilbertie's Farm in Easton and learn how to clean the seeds and prepare them for winter sowing (sowing seeds outdoors in miniature greenhouses during winter, allowing them to germinate naturally in the spring). This is a rare and exciting opportunity to “learn” “see” and “do” techniques for healing our land by becoming part of the circle of life…starting with the seeds!
